1. Performance comparisons are based on publicly available data sheet information for performance-focused 1 DWPD 7TB SSDs competitive SSDs as of July 23, 2024 when the 9550 SSD was announced. Competitors are defined as Kioxia and Samsung.
2. The Micron 9550 SSD complies with most, but not all, requirements of the Open Compute Project (OCP) Datacenter NVMe SSD Specification 2.0r21, with partial OCP 2.5 support for adding advanced telemetry data logging to monitor the SSD’s performance and health.
3. No hardware, software or system can provide absolute security under all conditions. Micron assumes no liability for lost, stolen or corrupted data arising from the use of any Micron products, including those products that incorporate any of the mentioned security features.
4. Power efficiency testing conducted in Micron labs versus available competitive Gen5 SSDs per footnote 1.
5. BaM testing conducted in Micron labs. For details, see the Micron 9550 NVME SSD and Big Accelerator Memory (BaM) technical brief.
6. BaM and GIDS are research projects based on this paper: “GPU-Initiated On-Demand High-Throughput Storage Access in the BaM System Architecture.” For details, see https://arxiv.org/abs/2203.04910, with open-source code available on GitHub here: https://github.com/ZaidQureshi/bam.
7. NVIDIA GDS testing conducted in Micron labs. For details, see the Micron 9550 NVMe SSD Performance with NVIDIA® Magnum IO™ GPUDirect® Storage technical brief.
