When I’m asked what makes us Micron, I answer immediately — our people. Our more than 43,000 team members in 17 countries drive our breakthrough innovation because they care. They care about advancing our technology, they care about our customers, partners and communities, and they care about each other. Our people are at the heart of all we do. This video shares stories of Micron team members who explain in their own words what makes us Micron.
Each year, we release our diversity, equality and inclusion report to hold us accountable to our commitments in creating opportunities for all. And this year, I’m proud to share the work of our global teams, the work that has helped us advance inclusion in the semiconductor industry around the world.
From volunteering in schools to mentoring young women to developing innovative partnerships, Micron is leaving no opportunity unchecked when it comes to advancing access and prospects. This viewpoint is especially reflected in the work of our employee resource group (ERG) members.
More than 47% of our team members belong to at least one of our 10 ERGs — completely volunteer and employee-run organizations. Our membership exceeds the average membership of most companies, which is around 20%. And, as our ambassadors of inclusion, ERG members advocate for an inclusive culture for all our team members.
As Micron’s India country executive, I am especially excited about the company’s growth in our country, including the construction of Micron's assembly, testing, manufacturing and packaging plant (ATMP) in Sanand, Gujarat, India. But we are also expanding around the world, with additional investments in North America and elsewhere in Asia. Along with these investments in our business, we invest in the communities where we work and live, creating economic opportunities throughout the semiconductor ecosystem.
As a young site, Micron India has been laser-focused on integrating all elements of diversity, equality and inclusion in every touchpoint of our operations. This effort encompasses inclusive hiring and vendor practices, as well as programs that celebrate multicultural representation across India. We are proud of the many industry recognitions we have received affirming our commitment and progress. However, for us and all of Micron, this is a marathon and not a sprint, which is why we focus on continuous improvement and growth.
Across our global organization, Micron has been recognized for our efforts to create a strong, safe and inclusive culture. In fact, we earned more than a dozen awards globally in fiscal year 2023. For 45 years, Micron’s team members have propelled us forward. Our people are what make us unique. They’re what make us stronger. They’re what make us Micron. I invite you to read about it in this year’s DEI report.
