A technology aided launch ceremony and lamp-lighting to honor Indian tradition, company leaders and Micron India team members formally celebrated the grand launch of our Hyderabad site on October 4. President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Executive Vice President Scott DeBoer and Chairman of the Micron Board were joined by Amitabh Kant, CEO of National Institute of Transforming India (NITI Aayog); and K. T. Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Industries & MAUD, Govt of Telangana to mark the expansion of Micron’s footprint in the country.
Micron’s presence in India reflects the company’s strategic efforts to strengthen Micron’s technology leadership by staying agile and innovative. The new Hyderabad site at full capacity will house ~1500 team members who will play a critical role in developing technology that is instrumental in driving breakthroughs in a wide range of areas, including artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Already 750 team members strong, Hyderabad could grow to become Micron’s third- or fourth-largest global site within a few years. The quick ramp-up of our design and engineering teams proves that India is abundant with talented and highly skilled professionals.
