When Sanjay Mehrotra signed on to the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion initiative in 2017, he and nearly 2,000 leaders committed to DEI efforts that would touch the hearts and minds of 13 million employees around the world.
In 2020, Micron created forums for a series of difficult but necessary discussions, covering issues from police violence against people of color to unconscious bias. Those conversations led to Micron enhancing our vision statement to “enrich life for all.” They also informed the company’s creation of six DEI commitments for fiscal year 2021, the founding of a new social justice council, and the establishment of a goal requiring all employees (known as “team members”) to participate in inclusion allyship training as part of their incentive pay plans.
In 2021, we are moving the conversation forward by understanding how allyship creates an inclusive environment for our team members, drives our innovation forward and enhances communities where our team members work, live and play. Micron is creating a space for all by raising awareness and sharing ways to make everyone feel seen, heard, valued and respected — not only through allyship but through active allyship.
Micron is hosting activities at all our global locations for Day of Understanding. Team members in China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Europe, and the United States will participate in conversations relevant to their locations. We are excited to talk, listen and learn from each other.
