We know COVID-19 and its effects on people we know and those we’ve never met is weighing on everyone’s minds. We want you to know that our team at the Idaho Community Foundation is working hard to make sure that Idaho nonprofits, schools and other organizations are still receiving grants from us, even during this challenging time.
We are in the process of getting nearly $2 million in grants from Organizational Funds (formerly called Agency Funds), Donor Advised Funds and Designated Funds out the door and into the hands of grantees all over the state.
That’s in addition to our efforts to encourage donations to the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund for Idaho, which began accepting applications for funding just a few days ago. We hope the first grants from that fund will go out in early April. We are proud to have partnered with the Idaho Nonprofit Center and United Ways throughout Idaho on this fund.
About $275,000 has been committed to the COVID-19 Fund from Idaho companies, foundations and individuals. Our lead donor was Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health and they’ve been joined by JP Morgan Chase, The AmerisourceBergen Foundation and Avista Corp.
The Micron Foundation will make a significant contribution by matching and doubling every donation made by an employee.
“Micron Technology set up a special matching campaign to support the COVID-19 Fund for Idaho,” said Kami Faylor, Senior Manager of Micron Gives Global Engagement. “The Micron Foundation is matching employee donations to the fund at a 2:1 ratio. To date, the Micron team effort has raised more than $75,000 in donations for the local fund.”
Several fundholders have given from their Donor Advised Funds to the COVID-19 Fund, including Chuck and Pam Lyford of Ketchum, and Damon Noller of Boise.
Our sincere thanks to these donors and many others!
In addition to applying to the COVID-19 Fund for Idaho, there are other resources for nonprofits:
- The Jitasa Nonprofit Relief Task Force is helping nonprofits navigate federal relief programs.
- The Idaho Nonprofit Center is keeping nonprofits up to date with news, guidance and webinars.
